Baylee

Vicious Pit Bull Attacks Zuniga Family!

Update, June 19, 2003:

It was bound to happen. The little dog has taken a fancy to my pillow.

This was bound to happen, too. Now she wants to sit with the big people at the table. Not sure which part of the newspaper she would like to read first.

Baylee's favorite place to romp... the ground cover in the back yard. Here she is shown perfectly camouflaged down in the vegetation (yeah, right!), waiting to pounce on unsuspecting people or cats.

An early casualty of Baylee's reign of terror... my favorite house slippers. I needed a new pair anyway.

It's getting harder and harder to resist this sort of pitiful look when it comes to not feeding this dog "people food".

We used to have the cat's food dish on this shelf so the dog couldn't get up there to bother the food or the cat. So much for that!

Well, well. Look who figured out how to get up on the "big bed" by themselves...

Bathtime! Playtime! Splashtime! Anything goes! Several things learned from this exercise: (1)dogs will not drown if they put their snout underwater up to the eyeballs; (2)no matter how fast and furious a dog digs in the water, the water will always fill up the hole faster; (3)there is something about water and being wet that sometimes makes a dog think it's OK to add some yellow liquid to the water in the tub...

...and so ends another day. Tired, but notice that at least one eye is always a teeny bit open so as not to miss anything. Also notice that somebody has also discovered that they can get on the couch and chairs by themselves...

Update, May 14, 2003:

Baylee's first trip to the "No Le Hace" getaway in Leakey, TX. Behind her is a low fence and behind that is about a 90-foot drop down to the Frio River canyon and the lake formed behind the dam. But this pit bull is not afraid, as you can tell by the expression on her face.

Standing among tiny white Texas wildflowers, with her eyes saying, "are you going to pick me up, or do I have to bite you on the ankle?"

Update, May 9, 2003:

Here's Baylee doing something she's decided is fun: snooping down into a hole at the base of one of our trees. She hasn't learned about things like fire ants yet ;o)

Yikes! She's spotted the camera person! Better run!

Still her best pose, in the grass. Every now and then she calms down this much and lets us get a photo, but ya gotta be quick!

...and then it's time for beddy-bye again. The one good thing about puppies is that their batteries don't hold a charge for very long ;o)

Born on March 7, 2003... this little pit bull puppy attacked Zuniga family members with needle-sharp teeth and tough resolve to drag us off into the yard. Mean looking, isn't she?

She's attentive, friendly, loves the outdoors, isn't fussy about food, and in true canine fashion she set up the house rules by chasing Pookie after a good barking-at.

Sharp, isn't she? Can you believe that 24 hrs. before this picture was taken, this same pup was in the back of a pickup truck in the hot sun, panting for water, crawling with fleas and loaded with ticks, and had apparently never seen the inside of a house?

Shhh... you'll wake the baby. Yep, she sleeps on her back...
