The gascolator with bulkhead fitting shows up in this picture. No part of the gascolator hangs below the lower edge of the firewall. Firewall is in two pieces in order to have the lower section removable for access or repair.
Another shot, clearly showing the bulkhead fitting. Doubler is installed behind the firewall.
With a bit of zooming in, the V-shaped brace for the bottom of the gascolator may be visible. It attaches to two of the lower firewall attachment screws and braces the gascolator quite rigidly.
In this installation, the drain valve protrudes below the bottom edge of the firewall.
